Branson Supports South African AIDS Drive

The AIDS pandemic is obviously a major crisis to address, and it comes as no surprise that Richard Branson, whose efforts to help young people began 30+ years ago, is involved in this fight as well. iafrica.com has the news of a new campaign launched in South Africa.

British businessman Sir Richard Branson and mining magnate Cyril Ramaphosa were at the Cida campus in Braamfontein on Thursday to launch two projects to fight HIV/Aids in South Africa.

Hundreds of Cida students and a pack of local and foreign journalists attended the launch of the "Your Finest Hour" project.

The project would bring the music and business worlds together in the fight against HIV/Aids by having people donate one hour of their salaries to the fight, Branson said.

The more celebrity-centered news outlets mentioned the event from a different angle, talking about Brad Pitt in South Africa.

At an Aids fundraiser at the Sandton Convention Centre on Thursday, Branson referred to his "good friend Brad Pitt who is visiting me in South Africa" a couple of times and recounted how they visited former president Nelson Mandela on Tuesday.

The article also notes that Pitt will probably be going to Branson’s Ulusaba private game reserve in Hazyview, Limpopo. So fly down to South Africa, hang with Sir Richard, visit his private reserve, take pictures with Nelson Mandela… Makes for some nice holiday photos, huh Brad? ;-)
